Going Bananas While Waiting for Jesus

How to make it through a busy shopping trip and not lose your mind:

  1. Go first thing in the morning. Skip the shower, but under no circumstances skip the coffee.
  2. Let one child cross the list off, and the other put everything in the cart. Have them switch off at each new aisle.
  3. Stop and talk to every sweet lady that wants to talk to you and your kids, and vice-versa. Rush no one.
  4. Sing to the Christmas carols that play over the speaker. Smile.
  5. Promise everyone a banana split when it's over.

Yep, that's the way. I am glad I have learned this now... a year into deployment. I am choosing to be thankful that the next three months of grocery-getting will be more pleasant than the last twelve.

Today we started on our little homemade advent project as well. I was going to buy an advent calendar, but this will be much more fun.

Today is December 1.

The first item to appear in our scene is a stable. On the back of the cupboard... there is no wall space left in this house.
We talked about the stable (or some other shelter) coming first, a place to house the Lord on His birth. God prepared a place for Him, as God prepared the earth for us and ultimately for His Son. Our Heavenly Father knew that Jesus would be born here, even before it was built, as He knew His plans for the Salvation of men before there was time!

I am very interested in this, sounds like a natural progression for us. Thanks to a fellow blogger for introducing the idea!
