Happy Hanukkah

We are beginning a new tradition this year. We are celebrating Hanukkah.

It has been on my heart to incorporate the Biblical Feasts into our year. I see Hanukkah as a natural extension of the celebration of the Light of the World. There is so much to learn from the history and celebrations of the Hebrew culture that magnify who God is! We're still celebrating Christmas, but making it a bigger celebration of the power of God, His hand in our lives, and His love for His people. I think this sums it up very well.

Yesterday we got our menorah, and made this craft that I found in Highlights:

We aren't going to have presents as part of our celebration. Instead, I am going to write a family activity on each candle "flame". As each night passes, after we light the candle and read scripture and pray together, we will do the activity on that candle as well as the servant candle (middle one).

I'm so excited!
